If Alabama receives a record of a DUI conviction from a sister state, Alabama is authorized to suspend the license.

A first conviction for DUI mandates suspension of the offender’s driver’s license for ninety days by the Direct of Public Safety.

A second DUI conviction within a five-year period mandates that the driver's license be revoked for a period of one year, while a third conviction within the same period requires revocation for a period of three years. The Alabama Code mandates that the court shall require the surrender of any driver's license from a defendant convicted of an offense for which revocation is mandatory and the court shall forward the license to the Department of Public Safety with the record of conviction

Did you know for a fourth conviction of a DUI you could be sentenced to 10 years in jail.
